DESCRIPTION

The Mk VI was derived from the Bentley Mk V, whose production was stopped after only one instances, all this due to the outbreak of World War II. Bentley Mk VI and the Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost are perhaps the two most important models built by Rolls-Royce.Bentley Mk VI is an important model for many reasons; the important thing is that it was the first complete car built after WW2. Until then, they worked in Manchester, Derby and Cricklewood with customized carrosse rien external coachbuilders. There were 5,208 units of the model built over a period of six years, with the first deliveries in the last months of 1946 and the last in October 1952. Yet still 1,018 customers opted for bodywork built by the dwindling guild of independent coachbuilders and work of 39 different of them decorates the Mk VI chassis. In this book almost 400 examples listed and the most interesting feature illustrations appear in the book. Each car is listed with delivery date, engine number, original color scheme (in the case of the standard cars), customer name, country of delivery, information about where the cars now and data on previously unpublished photos of the cars. The book is richly illustrated with pictures of just about every design that appeared on the Mk VI chassis, many from the personal collection of the famous Professor Bradford Powers in the United States. With hundreds of illustrations.
